Top 5 best looking calisthenics skills you can learn as an intermediate!

Hello there! So im guessing you've read my previous post on 5 best looking calisthenics skills u can do as a beginner. If you haven't that's alright we've got another post you can check out when you have progressed past the intermediate stage in calisthenics. So make sure you stick around and follow so you wont be missing out on any of my future posts.

For now though im going to give you a list of calisthenics skills and exercises you can do to instantly impress the by stander. Trust me, even a bodybuilder would just stop by to watch you perform these slick moves once you got them as perfect as you can.

1.Muscle up

Muscle ups are the ultimate when it comes to showing off your strength. This exercise is considerably harder than most skills in this list because this exercise demands good pulling strength as well as pushing strength and grip strength of course. You don't wanna slip off to your embarrassment when after you've committed to show your muscle up.

You start by holding the bar with hands shoulder width apart and pull yourself up with a slight bend towards the inside. This allows you to gain more height on the bar. Once you've reached enough height on the bar push your elbows behind your body which should gain you even more height on the bar. Now that the bar is right under your chest push yourself up to perform a traditional straight bar dip. If your a complete beginner to this exercise i recommend you to use some momentum by swinging a bit. From there as you develop the strength you can go up slower and controlled.

And there you go you've got yourself a cool move that's for sure going to make the by standers go amazed.

2.Back lever

If your reading this post i assume you are an intermediate which means you've put in some nice 6 months of work into calisthenics atleast. If you've done it by now you should have the back lever unlocked. This move looks abnormal and that is enough to make it easily one of the best looking static holds an intermediate can perform. The back lever requires a lot of core strength, especially your rectus abdominus that is the lower back muscle, your pectorals and also improves the flexibility and mobility in your shoulders while strengthening your deltoids.

You can go into the back lever by performing a "skin the cat", from there you lean forward and pull urself closer to the bar with your pectorals(chest muscles) while lifting your legs up and straight with your lower back muscles. Once you've got yourself hanging parallel to the ground hold it there as long as you can. And there you go you've already impressed half the people while you were just performing "skin the cat"  to get yourself into the back lever!🤷

3.Handstand

If you aren't performing a handstand everywhere and anywhere you can by now then you should consider yourself as an intermediate at all. Go back to being a beginner! Handstand is one of the best and easiest static hold you can learn. Apart from being one of the easiest it looks abnormally cool when you do it without the support of a wall. Don't get me wrong a handstand looks amazing against a wall too but not as cool as a free handstand that you can literally perform anywhere you can place your palms, Its up to your own creativity now on where you wanna perform your next handstand.

I highly recommend training for the one arm handstand now as you've achieved the handstand as an intermediate. For the one arm handstand you start by slowing lifting one finger off the ground per week or so to eventually find the sweet spot where you can balance and control yourself with just one arm. Opening up your legs into a straddle will make it easier for you to learn as well. I highly recommend you train a lot of handstand pushups too as they are really gonna help build your shoulders to help you balance on one arm.

4.Pistol squats

There had to be a lower body based calisthenics exercise that looks cool, and yep pistol squats fit right in. Doing a couple of em isn't as easy as doing regular squats, you need to have a good balance and enough strength in your quads to hold one leg up and straight off the ground the whole time while your whole body weight is being pushed by the other leg. This is literally the killer exercise if you're looking for a lower body exercise in calisthenics, but not only that they also look the best when compared to every other lower body based exercise, i just had to put this in you know.

If you haven't heard about these or if you haven't worked on em enough, what are you waiting for? seriously, you dont wanna be having such awesome looking skills above mentioned but with chicken legs? Nah. Start adding pistol squats into your workout routine and you'll thank me later. These are pretty simple as you can lift one leg up and hold something  to support you in balancing yourself and just simply squat. If you cant do that aswell? Buddy, you have seriously never considered any leg exercises🤯? Basic squats can help you get started then. But trust me you have a long way to go in the leg department.

5.One Arm Pull/Push up

These are hands down the coolest exercises you can ever do. Take any exercise and do it with one arm or one leg like in pistol squats as mentioned above, you can make it the coolest thing people around have seen. But these are considerably much harder than regular variations of them like in this case one arm pull up or push ups. You can easily shoot for 50 push ups at a stretch and still not be able to do one, one arm push up, yep im saying that from my personal experience now! The same goes with pull ups too! You can do upto 25 pull ups at once and struggle with one arm pull up. So no way on earth anyone would be able to take their eyes off of you when you pulling these slick skills.

Now that wraps up the 5 best looking calisthenics exercises you can do as an intermediate trainee to amaze your friends and show off your progress!
